Want to help make New Year's Furry Ball an amazing way to ring in the new year? Join our volunteer team!

NYFB is made possible by people from the community who are willing to lend a paw. Whether you've staffed conventions for years or this is your very first furry event, we'd be happy to have you.

Volunteering is a great way to meet people, get involved behind the scenes, and help create a fun and welcoming experience for everyone attending NYFB.

There is no minimum hour commitment. Volunteer for an hour, for a few hours, or whenever you have some free time during the event. Every bit of help counts!

 
 

Requirements

All NYFB volunteers must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older by December 29th 2026

  • Have a valid NYFB registration

  • Follow all hotel rules and procedures

  • Follow the NYFB code of conduct

  • Treat attendees, hotel staff, fellow volunteers, and NYFB staff with respect

  • Sign in with the Volunteer Coordinator or your volunteer-assigned department lead before volunteering and sign out when finished

Unless you are volunteering for a position where fursuiting is specifically appropriate, we ask that volunteers do not fursuit while on duty.

Volunteer hours are counted during the current NYFB only and do not carry over from year to year.

What Can Volunteers Help With?

Volunteer needs may change throughout the event. Depending on when you're available, you may be able to help with things such as event setup and teardown, attendee assistance, line management, event support, keeping public areas organized, and other general tasks.

You do not need convention staffing experience to volunteer. NYFB staff will provide any instructions you need for the task you're helping with.

Submitting an application does not replace your NYFB registration. You must still have a valid event registration in order to volunteer.

 

Volunteer rewards!

Every hour you contribute helps make NYFB possible, and we want to thank our volunteers for giving their time to the community!

Volunteer rewards for this year are:

  • 3+ hours:
    - NYFB Shot Glass

  • 6+ hours:
    - T Shirt
    - Shot Glass

  • 8+ Hours:
    - Free reg for next NYFB
    - T Shirt
    - Shot Glass

Volunteer rewards are cumulative. For example, a volunteer who accrues 8 hours receives the awards of the previous two tiers.

Volunteer rewards may be redeemed during NYFB while supplies last. T-shirt sizes and merchandise quantities are subject to availability. If an eligible item runs out during the event, arrangements may be made for a similar item of value to be received during the following convention year.

Volunteer hours must be properly recorded through volunteer sign-in and sign-out to qualify for rewards.
