Calm Room

The calm room is a space set aside for people who need a sensory break from the bustle of the con.

The calm room will have coloring books, kandii bracelet kits, yarn, and stim toys available for those who want them.

Quiet conversation is allowed in the calm room. Please bring headphones/earbuds if you wish to listen to music.

Disposable earplugs are also available.

Calm Room FAQ

 

Will the calm room be monitored?

The calm room will get an hourly check in, if there are any issues between check ins please request help at registration next door.

What level of noise is allowed?

While we do not expect library levels of quiet, the calm room should remain at or below the loudness of a casual conversation.
There should be no shouting/yelling in the calm room at anytime.

What kind of coloring books will there be?

Most of the coloring books are targeted towards the teen-adult demographic. They vary in theme from general patterns and flowers, to cozy cabin scenes.

What type of yarn is there?

We have a limited amount of medium weight acrylic yarn, some hooks and needles will be available.
If you wish to bring your own, it's suggested measurements are 5mm, a US size 8 knitting needle, or a US H/8 crochet hook.

What stim toys are there?

There will be a variety of stim toy types available, such as pop bubbles, squishies, puzzle cubes, and fidget toys.

Can I bring my own craft/project to work on?

Yes! You are welcome to bring your own supplies into the calm room.
Just remember to keep track of them.

Can I bring food or alcohol into the calm room?

Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed in the calm room, as sometimes we need a safe and calm environment to eat food.
Alcohol and other substances are not allowed in the calm room.

Can I wear my fursuit in the room?

You can wear a fursuit in the room but there won't be accommodations to keep cool.
We suggest the headless lounge near main events instead!

Is the calm room wheelchair accessible?

The calm room has level access from the front elevators and ramp access from the back elevators. However the hallway to the calm room may become narrow during panel changes.
If you need assistance getting to the calm room, come to public safety and someone will help assist in managing traffic.

The calm room will have a clear pathway to get to the craft table and table space for people using wheelchairs.
